Areas of Practice

Ms. Cecilia Lou specializes in intellectual property matters, including national and international patent and trademark applications and prosecutions, due diligence, licensing and IPR assignment, IP management, as well as supporting litigation, handling anti-unfair competition matters and trade secrets cases, and consulting on IP strategies, especially for R & D Centers or joint-venture related issues.

She has a solid understanding of both IP theory and practice and works in the field of technology, including power engineering, mechanisms, automotive, electrical engineering, medical devices, consumer products, materials processing, semi-conductor manufacturing and equipment, and computer software.

Work Experience

Ms. Lou joined King & Wood in 2006.

In addition, she is a member of LES (a syndic of All-China Patent Agents Association), the Professional Commission of Invention Patents and the Professional Commission of International Intellectual Property Law. Ms. Lou is the Vice President of the Agents Professional Commission of the Shanghai Trademark Association, and a syndic of Shanghai Patent Agents Association.

She received her B.S. degree in engineering with a minor in electronic engineering from the Power Engineering Department of Dalian University of Technology in 1992. She completed an advanced software engineering program in Shanghai University in 1994. She received her LL.M. degree at the China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing and the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. Ms. Lou was admitted as a trademark attorney in 1995 and as a patent attorney in 1996. She is proficient in Chinese and English.
