Mr. Gao Zongze specializes in maritime law, international trade, finance, and the resolution of large-scale disputes. He has participated in negotiations and document drafting for numerous major projects and major loan facility projects, which have involved billions of RMB. In addition, he has also represented clients in major disputes involving millions of RMB. Furthermore, he has served as legal counsel to over twenty major companies.
Mr. Gao joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2004. Prior to joining our firm, he had over forty years of work experience in the China Academy of Social Sciences, various businesses, legal service companies, and law firms.
He is a graduate of the Dalian Maritime Transportation College and a postgraduate of the China Academy of Social Sciences. He gave lectures at Colombia University before joining King & Wood Mallesons in 2004. He has formerly been employed as a lecturer at the China Academy of Social Sciences, a director of the China Law Business Centre, and as Chairman of China Law Services (Hong Kong) Limited.
Mr. Gao acquired his Chinese attorney qualifications in 1982, 1994. In 2002, he was elected as Chairman of the All-China Lawyers Association.
Currently, Mr. Gao is serving as Vice Chairman of the International Attorneys Union, Chairman of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association, general director of the China Law Society, Vice Chairman of the China Maritime Law Association, commissioner and arbitrator at the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, arbitrator at the China Maritime Arbitration Commission, arbitrator at the SCC, a specially invited researcher at the China Academy of Social Sciences, pluralistic professor at CUPL, commissioner at the State Judicatory Examination Committee, and consultant to the Supreme Court of The People's Republic of China.
Numerous awards and honors have been granted to Mr. Gao in recognition of his excellence.
