Mr. Zhang Yi specializes in foreign direct investment in China, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, reorganization and IPOs, infrastructure construction and the privatization of public services, and insurance.
He has handled a number of milestone transactions in respect to insurance, telecommunications, and public utilities in China and also acts as the outside counsel for renowned companies. Mr. Zhang has participated in a large number of M&A deals between Chinese enterprises and international investors. In addition, he is experienced in the privatization of a variety of public utility enterprises in Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuxi and Shenzhen.
Mr. Zhang also has extensive experience in insurance law. He serves as a legal counsel for a number of large insurance companies and has participated in many acquisitions of Chinese insurance companies by foreign investors.
Work Experience
Mr. Zhang Yi joined King & Wood in 1996. Before joining King & Wood, Mr. Zhang worked as an in-house counsel for the China National Medicines & Health Products Import & Export Corporation.
He received his LL.B. from the University of International Business and Economics, and his LL.M. from Stanford Law School. He is an Executive MBA candidate at the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business and was admitted as a Chinese lawyer in 1996 in addition to being qualified to practice in New York State in the United States. Mr. Zhang has been elected as a leading Chinese lawyer by many Chinese and foreign journals.
He is concurrently a visiting researcher and a director of at the China Research Center for Public-Private Partnerships.
Mr. Zhang is proficient in Chinese and English.
