International Trade

King & Wood was one of the first Chinese law firms to provide legal services in the international trade law area. The practice began in 1997 when the firm represented clients in responding to the first antidumping investigation in China.

Our International Trade Practice (the “Practice”) offers a broad range of international trade legal services to governmental agencies and private sectors including both domestic companies and multinational enterprises, based on our thorough knowledge of Chinese laws and procedures, as well as international treaties.

Since 1997, we have represented clients in many high-stakes antidumping investigations initiated by the Chinese authorities. With the rapid development of foreign trade in China, the international trade practice of the firm has grown substantially. Up to now, King & Wood has accumulated extensive experience in key business areas, including trade remedies, WTO litigation, U.S. Section 337 Investigations, customs measures, and import & export business consultation, among others.

Through its outstanding WTO practice, the Practice has developed and maintains close working relationship with Chinese governmental authorities such as the Ministry of Commerce, the General Administration of Customs, and others. Such relationships enable us to be aware of any forthcoming developments to Chinese laws and policies, and help to ensure smooth communication between our clients and the relevant authorities.

The Practice is led by two partners and composed of more than 20 associates. All of our lawyers graduated from leading law schools in China and abroad. As pioneering practitioners in this area, the Practice members have crafted their skills and accumulated rich experience with each case they have handled, which have proven to be invaluable assets for the clients we serve.
